You may think it’s strange that a cooking documentary on Netflix is on our photography inspiration, but when you consider the role of a photographer and a chef there are many overlaps. Both are service industries, both are creative professions, and both straddle the line from cheap commodity fast food all the way up to 10 person boutique high end restaurant. Think about how you want to position your service. Do you want to be in a box? Can you define your own label? Who is telling you no, this can’t be done and who are your supporters. This series is interesting throughout as it answers those questions that plague many a creative professional (On Netflix Here).
As a photographer, we are often in charge of logistics, planning, execution of ideas, and striving for that 1% more than has been done. Listen to the chef’s talk about their struggles and see if they don’t resonate with you the photographer, with you the creative professional.

Amen to that. The more we fail at trying the more we grow at doing.
