Creative Portraiture: Using Water, Smoke and Color

In this class we will discuss how to come up with creative solutions to everyday photographer problems. We will discuss the creative process and how photographers can learn to think through any scenario they encounter. We will produce portraits and landscapes with smoke, gels, filters, water and other random objects to add variance in our work. This class will have a one-hour practical discussion and then a four-hour shooting experience focusing on adding randomness to the shoot to create imagery outside the norm.

This class meets off site. Location TBA.

• Photographing Models utilizing Water, Haze, Gels and Mirrors

Audience

This class is geared towards photographers who want to expand their creative pallet. You should have a working knowledge of camera basics and working in manual mode. It is ideal for photographers who want to try something new and expand their portfolio.

Required Equipment

• Camera
• Portrait Lens
• Memory Card
• Note taking supplies
• Off-Camera Lighting (optional)

Schedule and Format

One hour of classroom followed by a four-hour shooting experience. The first hour covers the Creative Process and how to photograph with new elements. The four hours following are shooting time with one hour on smoke and haze, one hour with Gels and Colors and one hour with Water.

To Josh, life is one big adventure. He founded AzulOx Visuals in 2009, AzulOx Commercial Photography in 2014 and has been exploring the world and new photographic techniques ever since. Josh loves to use his photographs to tell stories, and he excels in designing creative story-boarded shoots. Josh is passionate about photography and the creative development of his students. He uses a variety of teaching techniques to help his students realize their photographic vision.

Josh is a husband and father to 2 young boys- who are junior models and photographers in training.
