Search engine optimization – Or, how to get found in a noisy world.
We live in a noisy world. Getting your work noticed, especially by potential customers, is tough. Having a clever URL and a web site are no longer enough. Showing up on the first few pages of a search engine like Google can be the difference between success and failure. To do that you need to craft the content of your site to be found.
During this class we will explore how to use WordPress to maximize your chances of being on the first page of any given search. We’ll discuss best practices for photographers and other visual artists as well as the habits required to win on the web.
SEO is not a single to-do item, but an entire strategy for your site. This class will give you the foundation to win in the long term.
- WordPress and SEO Basics
- How themes and plugins affect your sites search-ability
- Speed and mobile usability are KING
- Global settings to improve your SEO
- Tools to check your progress
- Improving the search-ability of your static content
- Writing blogs that drive search traffic.
- “But this is the 937 wedding I’ve had to write a blog about…” and other common stumbling blocks… And how I get around them.
This class is designed for photographers and other visual artists that have a working understanding of how to use WordPress (e.g. know how to create pages, adjust theme settings, etc). The class will focus on SEO related tasks, not basic WordPress usage.
For those needing a foundation in WordPress, see WordPress for Photographers.
